North Inner City Regeneration

On Saturday 8th of September 2018 the Lord Mayor of Dublin City, Cllr Nial Ring and Mary will host a public meeting in Dublin’s historic Mansion House to promote the North Inner City Development Authority Bill 2018

This important legislation results from Mary Fitzpatrick’s work with residents, businesses and community representatives in the North Inner City.

The Dublin North Inner-City Development Authority Bill 2018   introduced last month in Dáil Éireann by John Lahart TD will for the first time put the regeneration of this historic part of our capital city on a statutory footing.

The legislation will for the first time create a statutory authority dedicated to championing the sustainable development and addressing root causes of disadvantage in Dublin’s north inner city. To read the legislation or learn more please click North Inner City Development Authority Bill 2018

The legislation recognises the importance of regenerating the North Inner-City not just for the area itself and those living there but also for the country as a whole given it’s in the heart of our Capital.

A dedicated North Inner City Development Authority will address the root causes of poverty and disadvantage in the area and champion the unique urban development opportunities that exist there.

A North Inner City Development Authority will build on the short-term work carried out as part of the Mulvey Report and forge a model for urban regeneration that can be applied to other urban areas in need of regeneration.

Mary first proposed a Statutory Authority in 2016 as a model with the potential to make long-term commitments to address the root causes of disadvantage and champion sustainable long-term regeneration of the area into the jewel of the crown of our Capital.

This meeting will give members of the public an opportunity to discuss and give feedback on the legislation introduced in Dáil Eireann by Fianna Fáil spokesperson for Dublin John Lahart TD.
