Matt’s of Cabra

The former Matts of Cabra is a total and unacceptable eyesore in the heart of our community. It is privately owned and on the derelict sites register. The owners applied for planning permission to build homes but following objections abandoned those plans.

Following Mary’s representations Dublin City Council undertook to develop the site for our community. However Irish Rail have said they require a significant portion of this site for rail expansion. This has effectively sterilised this site in terms of development. Until there is clarity on the area that Irish Rail intend to acquire it is impossible to determine what might be left as developable land. I am pusuing Irish Rail for an urgent decision on the site.

In the meantime HUGE THANKS to Dublin City Council for cleaning-up the dumping at the site and Connecting Cabra for the work they are doing to improve the space.
