Planning Developments for Moore St. Commemorative Centre

Cllr Mary Fitzpatrick would like to advise of further planning developments in relation to the proposed creation of a 1916 commemorative centre at the national monument at numbers 14-17 Moore Street in Dublin’s North Inner city.

The final detailed design for the national monument has been submitted to the Minister/Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in response to condition No’s 2 and 47 of the Ministerial Consent No. C494, of 16 July 2013, to carry out works to the national monument.

These works will provide for the preservation of the national monument and a 1916 Commemorative Centre at the national monument. The buildings at No’s 14,15, 16, and 17 Moore Street in addition to the rear pre-1916 structures will all be retained and will accommodate the Commemorative Centre.

The houses on Moore Street were designated as a national monument five years ago. The properties played a significant role in the events of the 1916 Easter Rising.
