Cabra House Student Accommodation Site

Cabra residents living close to the former Cabra House site contacted Mary in June concerned about the inadequate Health and Safety precautions taken to protect their homes during site excavation in preparation for construction of Student Accommodation.

Over a number of weeks, Mary worked on behalf of residents and made representations on their behalf to the developer requesting the developer respect homes, stop work and take proper precautions.

Following a site inspection, all works were stopped by the Health and Safety Authority.  The developer is not permitted to do any further work on the site until all issues are addressed.

The developer apologised for the intrusion, accepted the residents’ concerns that Mary raised with them and committed to addressing the issues Mary highlighted to the resident’s satisfaction.

Mary asked the Health and Safety Authority to ensure that residents’ concerns are addressed before they grant permission for works to resume.
