Use it or lose it

More than ten years ago Mary started making representations to Dublin City Council to address dereliction in Dublin Central.  Finally late last year DCC commenced the compulsory purchase order process for  two derelict properties on Connaught Street, Dublin 7.

Mary says “The process is tortuously slow and a different approach is required. ”

“There are currently more than 4,800 vacant properties in Dublin Central.    Mary believes, that when there has never been a greater need for housing or homes, it is totally unacceptable that the state allows such dereliction to persist. ”

Mary says “The Government has failed to address this dereliction and waste of valuable housing stock and believes the Government must adopt a “use it loose it” approach to vacant property and land in Dublin Central. ”

Additionally Mary says “State bodies like the HSE and DCC which are also guilty of holding derelict properties should be similarly penalised”
