Increased bin charges

I have been contacted by a number of constituents this week regarding the increase in Greyhounds waste collection charges.  People are very upset over the increase in the charge, again with little or no notice given.  When customers were compelled in January to pay their annual charge up front they were advised that the prices would be fixed for six months.  They should have been told the charges will go up in six months !

I have previously asked Dublin City Council to provide a map showing where there is competition and alternative waste collection operators.  Dublin City Council stated that it has no information about the specific service provided by the Waste Collection Operators that they have issued permits to. This is not a satisfactory response and I will continue to pursue this matter.  In the meantime consumers should shop around for the best value.  Mary
