Local Property Tax

Mary says it is unfair that Local Property Tax paid by homeowners in Dublin City is not spent in the city. Mary is calling for Local Property Tax collected in Dublin City to be spent in Dublin City.

Mary successfully negotiated an inclusion of this objective in the Dublin City Agreement 2019-2024 with Green, Labour and Social Democrat City Councillors.

The Herald reported on the ambitious but fair objective HERE.

Sean O’Rourke invited Mary to explain the proposal on his show. Mary took the opportunity to call for the local property tax that is collected in Dublin City to be spent in Dublin City.

Minister of State at the Department of Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform Patrick O’Donovan declined to debate the issue directly with Mary. It reflects poorly on the Minister that he failed to address the substantive issue and instead attempted to pit urban against rural and to bully Mary by calling on Michéal Martin to take her to task.
