Yesterday September 19th, Friends of the Irish Environment lost its case arguing that Ireland needs to do more on climate change. Ireland’s High Court sided with the government on all three grounds, ruling that the current National Mitigation Plan is lawful.
This legal action was the first case in Ireland in which citizens sought to hold their government accountable for its role in knowingly contributing to dangerous levels of climate change. Click HERE for a video explaining the case.
