Liberty Hall Project

Please see below the copy of a media statement issued just now by SIPTU in relation to the Liberty Hall Project. As the statement makes clear, SIPTU remains fully committed to this project and will be re-applying for planning permission within three months. All the best, Mary.

SIPTU WITHDRAWS PLANNING APPLICATION FOR LIBERTY HALL PROJECT AND WILL RE-APPLY WITHIN THREE MONTHS

SIPTU has today withdrawn its planning application for the redevelopment of Liberty Hall. However, the union has made it clear that it will be reapplying for planning permission within three months.

SIPTU General Secretary, Joe O’Flynn, stated; “We have decided to withdraw the current planning application due to detailed design issues. While the union, its professional advisors and Dublin City Council officials have worked hard to resolve these outstanding issues, time simply ran out on us. After detailed consideration, SIPTU has withdrawn the application to allow more time to resolve these matters and we intend to re-apply for planning permission within three months.”

Mr O’Flynn said that SIPTU remains fully committed to proceeding with this major project for the union and the city of Dublin as the current building is no longer fit for purpose.

Out of respect for the planning process, the union will not be making any further comment on this matter at this time.
