Vaccine Update

Mary has received updated briefing note from the Government regarding the vaccine rollout: Over the past week (4th Jan 4 – 10th Jan), the vaccination programme was activated nationwide and the target of 35,000 people were vaccinated.

Over the coming weeks, there will be an initial team of circa. 1700 vaccinators mobilised across the country and online training is now available to all relevant staff and being completed on a daily rolling basis to build up the number of vaccinators. Over 2000 people have now completed the training programme.

This is the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, the largest ever conducted by the State. Vaccinations will be offered free to all residents of Ireland who wish to receive it.

The operational model of the roll-out plan is such that, from this week on, vaccine will be administered as the supply arrives in Ireland (i.e., there will be no build-up of stock).

The administration of vaccines will be limited only by supply.
