Illegal Dumping

Mary launched the proposed Fianna Fáil Bill to allow Local Authorities use CCTV to stop environmental crime, such as illegal dumping.

The Bill will give powers to Local Authorities to use CCTV, Drone and Automated Number Plate Recognition technology.

This Bill is intended to empower local authorities to authorise the installation and operation of surveillance devices for the purposes of deterring, preventing, detecting and prosecuting certain offences.

It will allow the exchange of data from third party data controllers to local authorities for the purpose of detecting and prosecuting offenses.
