Free Contraception

Mary is really delighted that the free contraception scheme for women aged 17-25 is now open for business.

This will have a massive positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our young women.

The scheme is open to all 17-25 year-old women and fully covers the costs of:

  1. medical appointments to discuss and prescribe suitable contraception;
  2. fitting and removal of long-acting reversible contraception (for example, implants and coils) plus any necessary checks;
  3. the wide range of prescription contraceptive options currently available to medical card holders.

Free contraception will be available from GPs, primary care centres and pharmacists who have signed up to the scheme.
