Dublin Bus Network Redesign

The National Transport Authority is proposing to re-design Dublin cities bus network.  Their stated objective of the re-design is to increase bus services and frequency but some residents are legitimately concerned that it will leave them with a significantly reduced service.

There are a number of changes proposed to the bus service in Dublin Central including the elimination of  No.11 bus.  Drumcondra bus passengers will be encouraged to instead avail of a 4 minute A service in Drumcondra, a 5 minute E service on Mobhi Road and a new N2 orbital service will run from Heuston via Broombridge along Griffith Avenue to the DART in Clontarf.

The number 37 will no longer serve Skreen Road, Blackhorse Avenue, Aughrim Street or Stoneybatter but they say there will be a new 25 minute N2 Service and access to 7-minute service on Prussia Street.  Additionally, they propose to replace the numbers 120 and 122 by a new route 36 and 262.

It is disappointing that there is no proposal to increase the bus service for East Wall and Mary has asked that the frequency of the bus service in East Wall be improved.

The proposed changes to the bus service are being considered in parallel to a radical “bus corridor” project which would create 16 dedicated high-speed bus corridor routes in the city.  More information is available on www.busconnects .ie.

Public consultation meetings took place in August but none were held in Dublin Central.   Following Mary’s representations, Dublin Bus will hold public information sessions in Dublin Central as follows:

  • Tesco Cabra, Navan Road, Dublin 7 on Wednesday 5th September 2018 from 2pm-8pm
  • Busáras, Store Street, Dublin 1 Thursday 20th September 2018 from 3pm-7pm
  • The Skylon Hotel, Drumcondra Road, Dublin 9 Friday 21st September 3pm-7pm

Dublin Bus staff will be available for people to stop by and answer any questions.

The deadline for written submissions and observations is September 28th 2018.  You can email your submission to consultations@busconnects.ie or post it to: BusConnects, Network Redesign, National Transport Authority, Harcourt Lane, Dublin 2.

Please also feel free to call into Mary’s office 90 Dowth Avenue, Dublin 7 where there are maps with details of the proposed bus route changes available to inspect or click on HERE for more information.

While all these changes are being considered you can continue to take bus numbers 120, 122, 38 and 38a  to meet Mary at her clinic at 90 Dowth Avenue, Dublin 7.
