Affordable Housing

Mary has called for politicians of all parties and none to support Governments €3.3billion ambitious social and affordable housing plan.

Access to secure, affordable, fit for purpose housing is one of the most immediate challenges facing young people and families in Ireland today.

Over the last ten years housing supply dropped, house prices inflated, and homelessness exploded.

Our new Government, with Fianna Fail Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien, recognises the failure of the previous ten years and the urgent need for an ambitious state intervention to reverse and fix the crisis in housing supply and affordability.

The Affordable Housing Plan will use public land to deliver affordable homes to purchase, affordable cost rental home scheme for the first time ever in the history of the state and a shared equity scheme to modest income earners buy their first home.

Mary has called for opposition politicians to help young people and families secure an affordable home by supporting the Governments ambitious intervention.
