Cutting the Cost of Back to School

Education is important to all of us. This September the cost of sending children back to school is more affordable for everyone. Fianna Fáil in government introduced the following savings for parents and families:

  • Schoolbooks, workbooks and copybooks are now free for all primary schoolchildren.
  • Clothing and Footwear allowance will provide eligible families €260 for children aged 4-11 and €385 for children aged 12 and over in secondary level.
  • Hot meals have been extended to al DEIS schools and will be extended to all primary schools in 2024.
  • Reduced school transport costs means that families of primary school children will pay a maximum of €50, post primary students €75 and no one family family pay more than €125.
