Fruit & Veg Market

Mary’s motion to re-develop the Fruit and Vegetable Market in Smithfield was unanimously supported at the September 2019 meeting of the Central Area Committee. The motion was as follows:

The Central Area Committee support the expeditious re-opening of the former wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market, Dublin 7 as a municipal fresh food and produce market to serve the residential community of Dublin City.  We call on the Manager to advise how DCC is engaging independent indigenous fresh food producers and traders in defining the future of the market, how DCC will finance the redevelopment and build the expertise to successfully run a municipal Dublin City fresh produce market. You can read the reply HERE

In the same week Dublin City Council issued a Prior Information Notice announcing its intention to procure a Market Operator to develop, refurbish and run the Victorian Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market in Dublin 7.
