Mary believes it is outrageous that the tapes of testimonies of survivors given to the Commission of Investigation have been destroyed by them.

Mary raised the issue with the Minister and he has told Mary that the matter is being investigated by the Data Protection Commissioner and he is waiting on feedback from the Attorney General on the matter also.

The Government is focused on what it has committed to doing as regards access to information, information and tracing legislation, and reporting on the redress situation by the end of April as well as other matters.

The Government will pass legislation this year to allow access to early life information, including birth certs.

The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth will support people to access any personal information within the Commission’s archive, in line with GDPR.
