Right to Housing Submission

In June 2021 Mary received almost unanimous support in Seanad Eireann for her proposing a constitutional referendum on the right to housing.  Following on from the debate Government established a Commission on Housing tasked with examining the issue.

In response to the Housing Commission’s public consultation on a referendum on Housing Mary made a submission supporting the proposal to hold a referendum on Housing on behalf of the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party.

A referendum on Housing should be held to secure support from the citizens of Ireland to amend Bunreacht na hEireann to include in it a constitutional right for every citizen to secure and adequate housing.
