Construction has begun on the refurbishment the former Rutland Street School. The purpose of the refurbishment is to:
- Protect an architecturally important building.
- Provide modern facilities for young people, the community, culture and more.
- Deliver a new civic centre for the North Inner City Area
- Develop business spaces such as shared office spaces.
The finished redevelopment will establish a dynamic community hub providing facilities for community groups, a café, a community hall, a crèche, a garden, a radio station, Dublin City Council offices and business hubs. The €30 million project is funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage’s Urban Regeneration and Development Fund, the North East Inner City Programme and Dublin City Council.
