Applications for the student grant scheme for the 2023/24 academic year is now open. From September the following changes will come into effect:

• A reduction in the contribution fee of €1,500 for families earning €55,240 to €62,000  
• A reduction of €500 in the contribution fee for eligible households earning between €62,000 and €100,000 .
• An increase in student earnings outside of term time from €4,500 to €6,552.
• A reduction in the eligibility period from 5 years to 3 for second chance mature students who did not complete a course and are returning to college.

To apply, students do not need to have received their Leaving Cert results or accepted a course. They just need provide the specifics of the course they want to take, and they can change their mind online at a later time. Students who received financial aid in the academic year 2022–2023 and are moving on to the following year of study must submit a renewal application.
