Supporting Students

Mary recently met with the Union of Students of Ireland to discuss the supports announced in the recent Budget 2022, and how Housing for All gives Technological Universities the power to build not for profit student accommodation and the rent controls introduced by the Government to help students.

The increase in the SUSI grant and the adjustment made to the income threshold was also welcomed by the USI

However there is a need for a more holistic approach around how 3rd level education is funded, Mary has called for the Minister of Higher Education to address this.

Following on from Mary’s meeting with the USI, she was delighted to participate in a discussion around student housing provision & supports organised by UCDSU.
