Teach An Saol

It is truly great news that Teach an Saol’s proposal for a dedicated National Neuro‑Rehabilitation Centre was granted planning permission by Dublin City Council 9 January 2026.

This is a huge achievement.

Well done to Padraig’s family and everyone who has contributed and supported this amazing project.

The project received Strategic Healthcare Investment Framework approval in late 2025.

The HSE is now moving to appoint a full Design Team, with the tender process underway and due for completion in Q2 2026.

A site in Ballymun is identified, and its acquisition is advancing through HSE approval processes, supported by a site valuation and Business Case.

The vision is to deliver a National Neuro‑Rehabilitation Centre, providing long‑term, multidisciplinary support for people with severe acquired brain injury co‑located with HSE disability and neuro‑rehabilitation services.

The granting of planning permission means the vision moves closer to becoming a reality.
