Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Local Government & Heritage started to scrutinise proposal for new legislation to regulate, register and license water abstraction. 

Important legislation to protect water ecology, comply with EU Water Directive, conserve water, minimise pollutants, measure and manage water abstraction.  Requested more details on proposed thresholds, measurement and enforcement.  Draft legislation expected early ’21.
