Winter Eviction Ban

This month we passed the Eviction Ban through the Seanad. The winter months will be a time of heightened pressure for a lot of renters and I am glad to support this measure which will provide tenants with a greater sense of security over the next few months. This is one of the many steps the government is taking to support those at risk of homelessness. If I can help you in any way please get in contact.

What is the winter eviction ban?

The Ban means that if a residential tenant is given an eviction notice by their landlord from November until next March, the eviction will be deferred until April at the earliest.

There are still certain circumstances which would see a tenant evicted during the winter – tenants who damage residential properties or who fail to pay the set and agreed rent.
