At the meeting of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Local Government & Heritage, during the pre-legislative scrutiny of the general scheme of the Affordable Housing Bill, the LDA confirmed to Mary its priority is provision of social and affordable housing.
Affordability will be determined by income, it is transparent, and accountable to elected representatives and subject to Freedom of Information requests.
For the reasons outlined above Mary does not understand why Sinn Fein and Social Democrats are opposed to wholly state owned authority dedicated to supporting Local Authorities and Approved Housing Bodies deliver social and affordable homes.
