Affordable Housing Bill

Mary supports Governments Affordable Housing legislation, published by Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien TD, which will deliver affordable homes to both purchase and rent.

The legislation aims to support people who earn too much to qualify for social housing but insufficient to secure a mortgage to buy or rent an affordable home.

For the first time in over a decade Government is reintroducing an affordable home purchase scheme and also introducing, for the first time in the history of the state, an Affordable Rental scheme.

Government aims to have the legislation approved by June ’21.  Prior to the bill passing through the houses of the Oireachtas it will be subject to pre-legislative scrutiny and possible amendments.

Please send your feedback on the proposed legislation and help inform Mary’s contributions, as Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Housing,  to pre-legislative scrutiny of the bill.
