Cost Rental Income Threshold Increase

Government has increased the income thresholds for cost rental housing to €66,000 in Dublin and €59,000 in the rest of the State, after tax, from the 1st of August.

Cost rental housing is available to those on middle incomes. It is intended for persons who are above the eligibility limit for social housing yet find it difficult to afford private rental property. Rent is based on how much building, managing and maintaining the property will cost. This cost is calculated over a minimum of 40 years and the rents must be at least 25% below private market rents in the area. Cost rental provides long term security of tenure at an affordable price.
