Cabra Dart+

In the Seanad I asked the Minister for Transport  to prioritise funding for the DART+ South West project to progress.

I highlighted the strong case for a new station in Cabra noting that approximately 26,000 people living in the area will benefit from reduced car usage, better commuting time and more reliable public transport.

I urged the Government to accelerate delivery of Dart+ South West given the project’s planning readiness and the pressing need for better transport options for people living in Cabra, Glasnevin, Drumcondra and Dublin south west.

The Minister confirmed a new station at Cabra is being developed in parallel with the DART+ programme and is advancing toward statutory planning. Timing of construction will be considered once approval is secured.

I welcome the fact that Government is actively exploring EU funding opportunities and the 2028 NDP review is an opportunity for further acceleration of major transport projects.
