In July our Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien TD announced over €40 million for the refurbishment of vacant local authority homes, the largest single amount ever announced under this programme.
In the county of Dublin €11.5 million of this fund will enable just over 800 social housing units, to be refurbished and re-let to individuals and families, struggling with homelessness or on the social housing list.
The Minister is insisting that all works be carried out and all units allocated by the end of this year and local authorities will be providing status updates to the Department.
