Land Development Agency

The crisis in housing supply and affordability requires a massive and strategic state intervention in the provision of social and affordable homes.

One of the most significant costs in the provision of any home is the cost of land.  The state is the biggest landowner and must use state owned land, suitable for social and affordable homes for maximum social benefit.

To radically and sustainably address the housing crisis Government intends establishing a statutory authority, the LDA,  to actively manage public land to provide social and affordable homes.

The legislation to establish the Land Development Authority (LDA) on a statutory basis was introduced this week by Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien TD.

Mary is working to ensure the legislation establishes the LDA to deliver social and affordable homes on public lands for the maximum public benefit.  To read the legislation please click HERE
