Metro Link Submission

Cllr Paul McAuliffe, Michéal Martin TD, Chairman of Na Fianna Cormac O’Donnochú and Na Fianna member Mary Fitzpatrick

Mary consulted widely with residents, community organizations, businesses and other stakeholders on the proposed Metro Link project.   Mary delivered 1,000s of information leaflets to peoples homes encouraging them to make a submission, brought Michéal Martin TD to meet residents and organizations who might be affected and supported them by attending an Oireachtas committee, in the media and at other public consultations.

When making a detailed submission to TII on the proposed Metro Link project Mary Fitzpatrick welcomed the objective of providing “a safe, high frequency, high capacity, fast, efficient, fully segregated and sustainable public transport light rail service from the city center to Dublin Airport and Swords.”  However Mary was severely critical of the significant disadvantage placed on the general public to engage in the process, the paucity of detailed information and TII’s failure to offer the northside an overground LUAS extension from Cabra to the Airport the same as it is proposing on the south side where it will extend LUAS and Metro Link will run overground from Charlemont .   You can read Mary’s submission HERE
