New Wing at the Mater

A new emergency, intensive care and isolation building has opened at the Mater Hospital. The Rock Wing, named after Sister Margherita Rock, was designed and built in two years. It has 98 beds, including 16 new ICU beds and will be home to a new National Isolation Unit.

The Rock wing will allow the Mater Hospital to care for an additional 5,000 patients a year and ensures that the people of Dublin Central and beyond will have access to top-quality, affordable and life-saving healthcare services.

This new state-of-the-art building is a great example of Fianna Fáil’s commitment to delivering accessible and improved public health care.

Mary would like to congratulate all those involved in the construction and design of the Rock Wing and wishes the staff who will work there the very best of luck.
