Pay By Weight

From the 1st of July 2016 waste collection laws state that everybody is supposed to pay for their waste by weight.  This new ruling caused a lot of concern to residents in Dublin Central who live in properties which cannot accommodate wheelie bins.  Following my representations to Dublin City Council they considered the issue.  I welcome the announcement from Dublin City Council that certain homes in the city, including many in Dublin Central, will be exempt from the wheelie bin and rubbish will continue to be collected in bags.  To check which road and streets will continue with bag collections please click here.   Unfortunately charges for bin collections continue to rise and I again urge the Government to re-introduce a bin waiver for low income households who simply cannot afford to pay the full charges.
