Social Housing- Retrofitting

Approximately 40% of Ireland’s energy related carbon emissions come from buildings alone.

To help reduce carbon emissions and make local authority homes warmer, easier to heat and more comfortable Government has invested €45 million in an energy efficiency retrofitting programme for 2021.

This week our Government announced funding under the Energy Efficiency Retrofitting Programme for Social Housing in each Local Authority.

Dublin City has been given €6.6 million which will be spent on upgrading older local authority homes. For allocations for other Local Authorities click here.

The Programme for Government (PfG) commits to retrofitting 500,000 homes to a B2/Cost Optimal Equivalent BER standard by 2030.

It is expected that approximately 36,500 of those with be local authority owned homes
