The Rotunda Hospital

A new planning application for the redevelopment of the Rotunda hospital will be lodged as soon as possible, backed fully by the Government. The planning application includes:

  • New on‑site critical care for women, ensuring rapid response and advanced treatment when it matters most.
  • Specialist care for babies, supporting the tiniest patients with state‑of‑the‑art neonatal expertise.
  • An enhanced Sexual Assault Treatment Unit, expanding capacity and strengthening supports for those who need compassionate, immediate care.

These improvements will deepen the existing partnership with the Mater Hospital, creating even stronger clinical links that directly enhance safety, access, and the overall quality of care for women, infants, and families.

This decision preserves not only a vital piece of Dublin’s heritage but ensures that women, babies, and families continue to receive exceptional care in a central, accessible location.
