Vacant & Derelict Grants

The fastest and most sustainable way to increase our housing supply is to reuse properties that already exist. To increase the pace at which vacant and derelict properties are renovated for new housing supply, the government has increased the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant and extended the criteria for qualifying homes. The changes are listed below:

  • Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant is now increased from €30,000 to €50,000 for vacant properties.
  • Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant is now increased from €50,000 to €70,000 for derelict properties.
  • Vacant houses built before 2007 will now qualify. Previously the grant was extended only to properties built before 1993.
  • The grant is available for properties intended for rental use and those which will be owner-occupied.

You can also apply for the SEAI grant to improve the energy efficiency of the home.
