The surprise US Presidential election result highlights the immense power individual voters can have through the ballot box.
In order to be able to vote at an election or referendum, a person’s name must be entered on the Register of Electors for the locality in which they live.
Every year the register of Electors comes into force on 15th February and is used at each election and referendum held in the following 12 months.
To check if you are registered to vote you can inspect the Draft Register of Electors 2017-2018 (the register which will come into force on 15th February 2017) which is currently on display at Dublin City Council’s offices and Libraries, Garda Stations, Post Offices and online here up to 25th November 2016.
