Blessington Basin and Royal Canal Park

Residents who have been in contact with Mary, the Gardaí and DCC regarding anti-social behaviour in Blessington Street Basin and Royal Canal Park.

Both the basin and the park are valuable public amenities deserving of protection. Following Mary’s representations, the Gardaí have implemented a coordinated policing strategy for the area.

Gardaí are aware of the issue and are disrupting the anti-social activities in these areas withdeployment of both covert (Divisional Drug Unit) and overt (Community Policing Unit) resources. The Drug Unit have identified particular persons that they believe are responsible for some of the supply of drugs to the dealers in North Inner City, and have conducted home searches. Gardai have said that they recognise the need to provide a robust visible presence in these areas and the Community Policing Units at Store Street and Fitzgibbon Street are making all efforts to provide a visible presence in the aforementioned areas, particularly during the main commuter times.

Please report any anti social

Both the basin and the park are valuable public amenities deserving of our protection. Following my representations, the Gardaí have implemented a coordinated policing strategy for the area. I have provided an update from the Divisional Drugs Unit with more details on the opposite page.

Please help keep our parks safe for all to enjoy by reporting any anti-social behaviour to 999 or 01 666 8600 Mountjoy Garda Station.
