Cross Guns, Binns Bridge Lighting

09.11.2010: Mary has asked Dublin City Manager to advise who is responsible for the public lighting on the Royal Canal between Cross Guns Bridge and Binns Bridge? Will the Manager please advise when the lights were last checked? Is the Manager aware that many of the lights along the canal, particularly the tow path in front of the Dakota Court apartments are out of order and will the Manager advise when they will be repaired and restored to full working order?

Response: Dublin City Council are in charge of the public lights along Royal Canal Way from Binns Bridge leading up to Dakota Apartments. The lighting at Dakota Apartments is currently not in charge. Our latest night inspection was carried out here on 27/10/10 and we have a report of 5 lights not working. Works to carry out repairs on these lights is impeded due to access restrictions for maintenance vehicles. However, we will endeavour to have these lights repaired as soon as possible.
