Stirrup Lane Mural

Mary grew up in Dublin 7 and remembers when it was home to a vibrant, fruit, veg, fish and horse market.

She admires and appreciates the significance of the Horse Boy mural on Stirrup lane, Dublin 7.   The image in the mural is of an authentic indigenous Dublin 7 street character and the quality of the artwork is great.

Mary thinks street art enhances city streets and should be encouraged and supported.  Mary would like to see the Horse Boy mural remain and not be removed as is currently the situation because of planning enforcement action by DCC

In response to Mary’s representations DCC Planning Enforcement advised Mary that following a complaint they were required to enforce the planning legislation which states that murals on external walls require planning permission.  They also advised that planning permission could have been applied to retain the mural with the approval of the owner of the premises.

Mary supports the campaign to save the mural and has offered to assist SUBSET to apply for retention to save the mural.
